Stiles continues to demand answers from Ford’s Labour Minister over SDF allocation

QUEEN’S PARK — Marit Stiles, Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition, continues to demand transparency and accountability from the Ford government, grilling Labour Minister David Piccini over his influence on the Skills Development Fund process that saw tens of millions of taxpayer dollars land in the pockets of Conservative friends and insiders.

Stiles grilled Piccini over the fund during today’s Question Period.

“Last week, Doug Ford repeatedly refused to fire his Minister or hold him accountable. The Auditor General’s report showed that low-scoring projects were re-written as “high priority” and approved for millions of dollars. The Minister admitted on the radio that he was picking winners and losers, including a company that his close friend was lobbying for! Did the Minister direct his staff to re-rank low-scoring applications?

“It’s déjà vu from this government, who has apparently learned nothing from their Greenbelt scheme.

“Ontarians are falling behind while Ford and Piccini put party insiders on their friends and family plan. The Premier needs to fire the labour minister and clean up this mess.”
